International Cultural Festival: Come for a Cultural Carnival with World-famous Masterpieces

On the evening of April 15, the International College successfully held international cultural festival in the college students’ activity center in the south campus of Jiaoqiaoyuan South Campus. National flags of various countries were hung in the air, the profound international atmosphere and a variety of activities had attracted a lot of teachers, students and foreign friends.

The festival was themed by “masterpiece·culture·people”, aiming at paving a way for students knowing about diversified cultures with masterpieces of various countries. The festival chose Jane Eyre of the UK, The Great Gatsby of the USA, The Sorrows of Young Werther of Germany, The Count of Monte Cristo of France, War and Peace of Russia, Pinocchio of Italy, The Izu Dancer of Japan, Schindler’s List of Australia and Don Quijote of Spain; the treasure in the world literature fully embodies the profound cultural connotation behind rolls of the books, demonstrate students the cultural characteristics of various countries, and makes students better experience the abundant cultural connotation.

The wonderful programs in the festival pushed the atmosphere to a new high. Only for Brilliant Moment of Chaser band brought a beginning to the activity, Jile PPAP of Congress 172 displayed unique Japanese style, God Bless Queen of Congress 174 showed solemn but with vivid British features, Royal BangChaCha of Congress 173 restored the dance scene in The Sorrows of Young Werther, Italian Court-ball Dances of CFA171 greatly showed the romance of Italy. There were also many interesting elements in the song and dance. In the Little Swan and Stupid Bear Dancing of Congress 171, there were four male students playing “Four Little Swans” brought audiences different sensual experience. The wonderful dance I Eat Hotpot, You Eat Condiment brought by CITF171 as well as the song I can’t feel my face sung by international students were also spoken highly of by audiences.

While demonstrating foreign culture, Tai Chi Sword brought by Zhongchuanwen brought unique and profound Chinese charm for the festival. The gesture, motion, tension and relaxation, combining firmness with gentleness, showing the unique charm of excellent traditional Chinese culture. The performance of Chinese and foreign cultures highlighted the era theme of “the culture is not only the nation’s but also the world’s”. students can also better experience the world diversified culture with the spirit of not forgetting the original and absorbing everything.

In addition to famous masterpieces and performance, interesting games and delicious delicacies also drove the festival to the excitement. Release the joy via circle setting, picking up hoodle with chopsticks and throwing darts, stimulate the taste bud with roast sausage, double-skin milk, snacks and soda water, and the cute mascot and abundant gifts also brought contentment to the activity participants.

The festival ended when the host announced the closing, but there were still many students left in the venue to feel the harvest from the festival. Read thousands of books, travel thousands of miles; attract Chinese and western cultures, feel the diversified world. Students experienced the difference of different cultures and charm of world culture through the international cultural festival. We believe that under such unconscious influence, international students will treat world culture with more open vision and broader horizon, proud of native culture, targeted for learning diversified cultures, marching towards the increasingly international stage.
