A reception centre was set up in the North Campus. In order to present an overall picture of the School, a School magazine and a beautifully finished handbook were specially prepared, as hand-outs for parents and alumni. In addition, the Network department had prepared video clips to be shown at the reception centre.

At half past two in the afternoon, the second alumni forum was held by the International School. Eleven alumni from 2002 and 2003 were invited, and they held a lively discussion with current students in the Arts Hall. Liu Shenhe, the deputy Party secretary, and Xia Xianfeng, the director of Teaching Affairs, were also present. The former students shared their experiences of life and work with the current students. The success of this exchange strengthened relationship between the alumni and their Alma Mater, and also provided a good opportunity for students to broaden their horizon and to learn about the real world.

The forum was chaired by Yang Hui, the Dean, and was attended by Zheng Bin, Party Branch secretary; Xiao Long and Chen Weidong, Deputy Deans; Liu Feng, director of Foreign Affairs; Wang Minghua, secretary of the Youth League Committee; Yang Hairong, deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee.

The function of a university is not only about teaching and research, but also our cultural heritage and service to the society. The School Open Day allows the School to be more transparent in running the School; parents and students realise that all roads lead to Rome, and are more tolerant and enlightened. Being open and inclusive is the best interpretation of the School motto: “faithfulness, curiosity, integrity, perseverance”.
